The Annual Campaign is the cornerstone of The Community School’s financial foundation. It is how contributors from all backgrounds, from modest means to financially comfortable, assure that our students continue to have the opportunity to receive a rigorous academic education, improve their lives, and find success. Contributions to this campaign have ranged from $5.00 to $5,000 and every donation counts.

Newsflash 8/6/08 The summer session ended today with a full classroom of students. This totally voluntary program was set up for students at their request and operated every Tuesday and Wednesday morning beginning with the first week of their summer vacation. It was attended both by students from the last term as well as students who will be attending for the first time in the fall. Course work in remedial math, G.E.D. test prep, as well as preparation for college entrance exams were offered. A special thanks to Susama who gave her time to help run this program. The students now have a break until the first day of classes on September 3rd.
Newsflash 8/6/08 Advisory Board member Tom Iacoboni along with his wife Jacque and two of their children, Hunter and Bryson, hosted the students for a fun-filled day. Students from last term as well as those entering for the first time this coming September enjoyed swimming and games throughout the day and into the night. The students even learned how to play bocce ball. Jacque kept the food coming and everyone left with their bellies full and totally exhausted from a great time. Thank you Tom, Jacque and Family!! We couldn’t have had a better time.
Newsflash 8/27/08 There was a wonderful return visit to the school by Amy Lewis, Pastor of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Hampden. Amy was part of an effort nearly 20 years ago that engaged the United Methodist parish of churches in the Hampden area with our organization. It included regular study and discussion sessions as well as work to build bridges and support new community programming. We are deeply appreciative that Amy is once again working to build those ties. Amy brought national mission intern Greg Little with her. Greg is a recent graduate of Duke University and is committed to working in the community for 2 years. He will be giving his time weekly as a tutor in our Independent Study program.
