Our Honor Code

“Twenty years ago I was a student in The Community School.  I went on to be a graduate, volunteer, staff and then Trustee.  Now I am proud to have my niece as a student in the current class.  I know she is in a community of people who care about her, her education, and her future.”

“The strength of the United States is not the gold at Fort Knox or the weapons of mass destruction that we have, but the sum total of the education and character of our people.”        U.S. Senator Clarence Pell

Honor Code

The Honor Code of the School is based on respect, trust and honesty.

Students and staff of the school pledge to be honest in both our words and our actions. We will not lie, cheat or steal.

We seek an atmosphere of comfort, caring and challenge to be our best.  We will conduct ourselves in a friendly, cooperative and responsible manner.

We will tolerate and respect individuals of different races, cultures, religions, genders, sexual orientations, disabilities and national origins.  We will take care with our language, not cursing or using words that put down a person’s circumstances or background.

We will settle conflicts in a positive manner.  We will not speak offensively about others, whether in or out of their presence.  We will resolve problems without fighting, either verbally or physically.

We will both offer help and accept help from one another.  Students will not discourage others by our words or actions.

We will care for ourselves, our classmates, our staff, our school community, and our facility by working to build each up and not be destructive.

We will not allow drug or alcohol use or possession either in school or in our personal lives. We will not let these substances keep us from reaching our dreams.

We will always strive to do our best. We will invest our effort to create the school as a reflection of the way we would like the world to be.

We will invest ourselves fully and engage completely in our classes.

We recognize that we have chosen to be a part of The Community School and pledge to abide by and uphold the rules and the expectations stated here.
