Community Shows Support
Residents of Remington and the surrounding communities have been showing strong support for The Community School as we face our zoning hearing on Tuesday. The hearing will be held in Room 215 at City Hall on Tuesday, September 18th.
Many neighbors have signed petitions and voiced their admiration for our students and the school. Churches, neighborhood organizations, and businesses have expressed their support including the Church of the Guardian Angel, Greater Remington Improvement Association, Greater Faith Baptist Church and even famed local spot Dizzy Izzie’s. Support can be summed up in the statement of Rev. Loren Edwards, Senior Pastor of Free Methodist Church just blocks from the school. He wrote, “I do think it is imperative that we keep this valuable asset in the community.”
City Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke will be on hand to help present our case to the Zoning Board and has been working tirelessly on behalf of our students. All of the families deeply appreciate her effort on their behalf.
We don’t expect any problems at the hearing since as one resident who lives across the street from the school said, “How could anyone not support the hardworking students of The Community School.”

LATE BREAKING NEWS FLASH.......
SCHOOL WINS ZONING APPEAL!

Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke shows City Council Chambers to Steven, Josh, Desmond, Jarrad and Sherry. Kenyon prepares for future role as City Council President.
Mary Pat Clarke shows students and supporters from the school the Mayor’s Ceremonial room at City Hall as they eagerly wait for the Zoning Hearing to begin.

The following quote is from a letter sent to the Zoning Appeals Board from a graduate of the school.
“I came into the school as student at age 16…After not caring about my grades and what I learned for years, I was finally given the academic support and guidance that every student in the world should have. Not only did I receive schoolwork help, I received tips and mentoring in every aspect of life. I was guided away from the drugs and filth of the city and pushed towards helping my community and shooting for the highest goals…This program makes me proud to live in this neighborhood and I couldn’t imagine the community without it.” Morgan Lister
